Claudio Ercoli - Blacksmith

For his friends, "Mondo", he was born in 1983, the son of one of the "Maister" blacksmiths of Bienno. From an early age he knows the scent of the forges well because of his father and at the age of 28 he begins to approach the world of handmade knives.

Again thanks to his father Gino and the advice of his friend Francesco Muci, he learns of a forging technique that allows two or more types of steel to be welded to the core, different in chemical composition, the so-called "damask steel".

Several years have passed since these first steps with the boiling of steel, to be exact 11 and Claudio has become a real doctor of damask steel, in recent years he has invented a compound he called "fatsteel", a mixture of melted copper and steel powder, he has created various complex designs and has also learned to make Damascus of stainless steels, now he is experimenting with the creation of "mokume", the Damascus made from non-ferrous materials such as copper, brass and nickel. di Claudio have reached a decidedly higher level than the first facts, he will soon try to retake the exam to enter the Italian guild of cutlers as a Master, the most famous association of hand-made knife makers.
