Luna Nuova is a terracotta work by the artist Francesco Visentini.

The sculpture, originates from a reflection on the original name of the hill now called the Cristo Re, but traditionally referred to the Magdalene, a place of prayer for pregnant women.

The moon is depicted here as a veiled woman, covered by a shroud, but at the same time pregnant, indicating a cycle of continuous death and rebirth, the natural course of life.

Also the position, close to the sepulcher and the chapel of the former monastery, underline this connection with the idea of ​​continuous regeneration.
