2nd Table

As regards the environmental issue within the project ambit, there have been taken into account three basic factors:
1)      The Life Cycle Assessment;
2)      The environmental aspects in the agreements
3)      The Dashboard

The package tours, which have been worked out, will be submitted to the analysis through the method of LCA. It is an objective method of evaluation and quantification of energy and environmental loads and of the potential impacts associated with a product/process/activity throughout their entire lifecycle, from the acquisition of raw materials to the end of lifecycle (“from the Cradle to the Grave”).
The LCA allows us to determine the amount of CO2 produced through the use of the package tour chosen and, consequently, it consents to consider the actions needed to be taken up for reducing them.

The territorial dealers, restaurateurs and hoteliers involved in the project, who have decided to enter into it, had to sign an agreement with the municipal tourist board of Bienno, through which they have committed themselves to adopting precautions of reducing the environmental impacts generated by their activities.

For example: The restaurant must take all possible precautions of respecting and protecting the environment, in particular:
-      Recycling and waste disposal: the operator must make the separation of glass, paper and special waste. To this end, he must identify the special containers.
-      Cleaning and hygiene: the operator must use the recycled paper and, for the daily cleaning, biodegradable and environmentally friendly detergents.
The “Dashboard of Sustainability” is a software designed by some researchers of the UNO Commission (United Nations Organization), which is based on Sustainable Development (UNCSD) and, of the European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC), in relation to the analysis of the indicators used for measuring environmental sustainability. The application of the Dashboard to the reality of the Municipality of Bienno presented in this web page, aims to provide a summary on the various environmental aspects of the territory of Bienno.
The boxes at the bottom of the figure, subdivided into stained segments, represent the sections that have been examined: Territory, Waste, Water & Energy and Other Environmental Aspects. On the contrary, every single segment in the boxes represents an indicator of a specific aspect of the section. Colours change from red to yellow and then to green, according to environmental performance, which refers to the indicator that could be scarce, middle or good.
The colour of the circle inside the box, instead, represents the performance of the whole environmental section, obtained as the arithmetic mean of the indicators that are part of the sector. The arrow at the top of the figure is placed on the total environmental performance of the municipality of Bienno, obtained as the arithmetic mean of the performances of the four analyzed sectors.
The performances of the environmental aspects, that have been examined, are determined by aims related to the regulations in force or to statistical comparisons with the data referred to the other municipalities of the Camonica Valley.
The examined issues subdivided in the four sectors are the following:
1. Territory Section: BIODIVERSITY with reference to the soil coverage, HYDROGEOLOGICAL RISK, to which the urbanized land is subject, SOIL CONSUMPTION in the territory, presence of PROTECTED AREAS, danger of forest FIRES.
2. Waste Sector: production of solid waste SW, total production of waste TOT W., percentage of WASTE separation made, waste separation made during the MARKET EXHIBITION.
3. Water & Energy Sector: ENERGY CERTIFICATION of the municipal buildings, in relation to the number of the certified buildings and their belonging ENERGY CLASS, ENERGY EFFICIENCE of the light points of the municipal buildings, controls on the DRINKABLENESS of water, per capita annual WATER CONSUMPTION.
4. Section of Other Environmental Aspects: per capita annual GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS, rate of MOTORIZATION, indicator on the antiquity of the municipal CAR PARK, NOISE to which the population is exposed in relation to acoustics zoning adopted by the Municipality, INFORMATION activity promoted by the Municipality on environmental issues, diffusion of ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT systems in the territory.

For a detailed analysis of each single indicator, there have been planned some “methodological forms”, in which will be summarized the methods and criteria for calculating and indicated the data sources.
